Nandita Das is an actor, writer, director and a strong advocate of social issues. She has acted in over 40 feature films in 10 Indian languages. Her directorial debut Firaaq premiered in 2008 at the Toronto Film Festival. She was on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival twice (2005 & 2013). Nandita was conferred the ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’ by the French Government and was the first Indian to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the International Women’s Forum in 2011. Manto is her second feature film and is selected in Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival, 2018.
Kartik Vijay has a BFA in Applied Arts and graduated in cinematography from The Los Angeles Film School. With over 400 advertising commercials, 6 feature films and multiple shorts including Moon Molson’s The Bravest, The Boldest that premiered in the Sundance Film Festival, 2014. His work has won him many awards including the Cannes Lions for advertising.
Sreekar Prasad is one of the most eminent film editors in India and has edited over 500 films. He has won many awards including 8 national awards. He has worked with eminent directors including Shaji Karun, Mani Ratnam, Vishal Bhardwaj and Santosh Sivan. Manto is his second film with Nandita Das.
Resul Pookutty graduated in Cinema from the Film and Television Institute of India. He has worked on 90 films, winning many national and international awards. For his work on Slumdog Millionaire, he won an Academy Award (Oscar), British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) award, making him the first Asian to win all three.
Rita Ghosh graduated in Production Design from the Film and Television Institute of India in 2008. Since then, she has worked as an Art Director for Madaari, Drishyam, and D-Day among others. Manto was her first period film as a Production Designer.
Sheetal Iqbal Sharma is a Fashion Design graduate from Wigan & Leigh College. His film work includes Miss Lovely, Love You to Death, Hiroshima, The Hungry, Raees, D-Day, Kesari, and Air Lift. He has worked on films that have historical characters as well as those set in contemporary times.
Zakir Hussain is an Indian tabla player, a music composer, and producer. He has been awarded two of India’s highest civilian awards and the United States National Endowment for the Arts’ National Heritage Fellowship. He has collaborated with musicians like John McLaughlin, George Harrison, YoYo Ma, Joe Henderson, Van Morrison, and the Kodo drummers. He has composed music for Heat and Dust, In Custody, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer, and Vanaprastham.
Sneha Khanwalkar is one of the only female composers in an otherwise male-dominated music industry. She is best known for her award-winning, popular score in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Gangs of Wasseypur. She has composed three songs for Manto.
